DEP's Location

DEP is based in Manchester on the site of the biggest teacher training centre in the country (and one of the largest in Europe). Manchester is culturally rich but there is considerable poverty and deprivation in the city. There are large Asian and African-Carribean communities and areas which are predominantly white working class, as well as large Southern and refugee populations. The schools we work with bring direct experience of issues of poverty and racism as well as cultural diversity.

DEP has built extensive links with LEA advisers, head teachers and teachers from the Greater Manchester region, particularly in areas (such as Oldham), where there have been acute issues between Northern and Southern communities.
