DEP training programme for 2011 - 12
We offer training for teachers, student teachers, educationalists and third sector organisations to embed the global dimension and global citizenship in their practice.
September - December 2011
Oct - Science Busking Training: A workshops for teachers, trainee teachers and other educators who want to learn fun, engaging and educative methods for engaging children, young people and families in science.
Nov - Global Youth Work: A twighlight workshop for youth and community workers who are already or want to develop local to global perspectives in their practice.
Nov - Personal to Global Finance: This twighlight course provides tools and a framework with which to explore issues related to finance and money with a local to global link in the classroom.
Nov - Another 'Spanner in the Works': This full day course works through some of the content of the publication, 'Spanner in the Works' and provides a toolkit for teachers in mainly whaite schools to challange attitudes and encourage respect and tolerance
January - March 2012
Jan - Primary to Secondary Transition: Using the DEP 'Going Up Growing Up' publication, the twighlight course provides a structured programme for teachers in primary and secondary for transistion suing peer education and the global dimension.
Feb - 'What is Science For' A full day saturday conference provides material for secondary teachers to engage in topical debates about the potential of science in todays world
Feb - Fairtrade: Be prepared for Fair Trade fortnight with this session which will give teachers access to resources and practical ideas for integrating fairtrade into the whole school delivery
March - Social Enterprise Qualification Mentor Training: To enable schools/youth projects to run accredited training with their pupils/young people. DEP are the North West training providers.

April - July 2012
April 2nd - International Childrens Book Day: A twighlight for teachers, librarians and parents to enjoy stories from around the world and create/share ideas for home and/or work
May 12th - World Fair Trade Day: Social Enterprise Qualification Mentor Training: To enable schools/youth/community providers to deliver this new accredited training with their groups. DEP are the North West Training providers.
May 21st - World Day for Cultural Diversity: More info to follow
June 6th - Global Dimension in the Geography curriculum: A twighlight session providing ideas for linking Refugee and Geography Awareness Week in the class room
June 25th - Geography Awareness Week: A day long workshop for Yr9 pupils
July - School Inventors Programme: A twighlight to introduce schools to the DEP Inventors Programme
