Greater Manchester Global Education NetworkSupporting teachers to include a global dimension in educationGMGEN is part of the North West Global Education Network (NWGEN), which covers the whole of Greater Manchester area, including Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. For contact details in other sub-regions around the North West please see Contacts page NWGEN is a strategic regional project funded by the Department for International Development. The overall aim of the project is to provide North West teachers with support for incorporating a global dimension into their teaching, by adopting a more strategic approach to provision of support throughout the region. This will ultimately, in the long term, enable all children experience the global dimension across all phases of their education across a variety of school activities. This strategy is founded on the premise that young people are entitled to an education that prepares them for life in today's globalised society. It forms part of the national 'Enabling Effective Support for the Global Dimension in Schools' initiative developed and supported by the Department for International Development (DFID) www.dfid.gov.uk/aboutdfid/intheuk For more information please visit NWGEN webpage www.globaldimensionnw.org.uk |
