Introduction
This has been a partnership between DEP and the Faculty of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). It has mainly been funded by the Department for International Development and builds on the work of the Global Dimension in Initial Teacher Education and Training project (2003-2006) which aimed to reshape and develop the ITET courses at MMU to support the teaching of the global dimension.
Brief overview
This project has been developing a training programme and a handbook to enhance the knowledge and skills of the professional mentors and university's link tutors who support teacher trainees and NQTs in schools. The project has been working with the partnership programme to build the capacity for schools to support the teaching of the global dimension for current and future teacher trainees.
Key aims

- Develop the mechanisms and training with link tutors to support partnership school clustes (PSC)
- Develop the capacity of partnership schools to create a supportive environment in schools to allow teacher trainees and NQTs to teach the global dimension
- Ensure that courses created or re-developed have global dimension content
- Disseminate the process and methodology to the other PSCs within MMU and other ITET institutions
- Disseminate the project processes and outcomes regionally and nationally
